On The Lookout For An Affordable, Easy-To-Use Multi-Function Device For Large-Format Printing
Although it is not exactly a new development for
our team at Prizma Graphics to express warm words about the Canon
ImagePROGRAF printers TM-200 and TM-300, for today’s blog post, we wished
to draw attention to two specific models in the acclaimed TM Series range: the TM-200
MFP 24” A1 L24ei Compact Colour Printer Scanner, and the equivalent TM-300
MFP L36ei 36” A0 machine.
These five-colour CAD and poster printing devices
sport formidable specifications all-round, including such features as 2GB
memory and 60% noise reduction compared to their direct predecessors in the
Canon line-up. However, it is the integrated scanner present with both these
wide-format printers that may be of particular interest to many.
Convenient scanning and printing in a
complete solution
Even when these devices are considered ‘just’ as
printers, there are a lot of excellent reasons to consider them for a design
office or studio where there is a need for the swift printing of high-quality
CAD and general poster work. And when we say “swift”, we are referring to print
speeds of 24 seconds per A1 print in the case of the TM-200, and 40 seconds per
A0 print for users of the TM-300.
These wide-format printers also use new pigment
inks that produce waterproof prints suitable for use both indoors and outdoors.
Don’t overlook, either, the compact designs of these printers, including their
flat rears that allow them to be placed against a wall to save space.
If, though, it is specifically the Canon TM
Series printer with the incorporated Lei series scanner that you select, you
will presumably wish to also make use of the scanning functionality in this
attractively priced multi-function printer (MFP).
And sure enough, both the Canon ImagePROGRAF
printers TM-200 and TM-300 – in their MFP forms – live up to the expectations
of those seeking a device that would enable them to easily scan, copy, print and
save. These MFPs are both unfussy and easy to use, and for users who don’t
need to immediately print the image they are looking to have scanned, they can
simply choose to have it scanned to a USB stick instead.
In fact, you won’t even need a computer to be
connected to either of these printers, in order to scan direct to a USB
thumb-drive that has been plugged into the scanner itself. In this situation,
the scanned image can be stored as a TIFF file, although if you would prefer to
have it saved as a PDF or JPG, all that you have to do is connect the scanner
to a PC on which the supplied ScanApp software has been installed.
A broad range of scan modes to ensure
your exact needs are met
Delving more deeply into the specifications of
these sophisticated MFP machines, it is interesting to note that they use
SingleSensor scan technology with multiple LED illumination, delivering an
optical resolution of 600dpi. An impressive level of scan accuracy is also made
possible by these devices – specifically amounting to 0.2%, plus or minus one
pixel.
No less intriguing with these MFPs, though, is
the wide range of scan modes provided. Users are able to scan to USB formats,
for instance, using the ScanApp, including RGB/Greyscale/BW, TIFF, JPG and PDF,
or they can scan to PC, with the supported formats being RGB/Greyscale/BW,
TIFF, JPEG and PDF. There is also a Copy scan mode to RGB/Greyscale/BW, as well
as Copy & Archive, which effectively combines the aforementioned Copy and
Scan to PC modes.
All in all, these are serious machines for
serious applications, while also not compromising on affordability and user-friendliness
as far as multi-function printing and scanning are concerned.
